Light up your life by corneal Transplant surgery

Cornea is thin layer of layer of tissue in eye wfich helps in focusing the light. If the cornea is damaged, it is replaced with a healthy layer of tissue from a donor. Corneal transplant , also called as kertoplasty , is the surgery which can bring back vision and reduce pain.

http://eye-care-hospital.com/corneal-transplant.html

A corneal transplant corrects several eye problems, including:
  • Cornea scarring because of an injury or an infection
  • Corneal ulcers or "sores" from an infection
  • Keratoconus – A condition in which cornea is bulged out.
  • Thinning, clouding, or swelling of the cornea
  • Genetic Eye diseases, such as Fuchs' dystrophy and others
  • Problems caused by an earlier eye operation

Full Thickness Corneal Transplant
Penetrating Keratoplasty (PK), in which all the layers of your cornea are replaced.New cornea is sewed on to the eye using stitches thinner than hair. It is recommended for a severe cornea injury and requires a long healing time.

Partial Thickness Corneal Transplant

Technically called as Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK), air is injected to lift off and separate the thin outside and thick middle layers of cornea, which is then replaced. The healing time is shorter than a full thickness transplant.
Endothelial Keratoplasty
Descemet's Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSEK or DSAEK) is the most common type of endothelial keratoplasty.  The endothelium, a mere one cell thick, and the Descemet membrane just above it are removed in this procedure, which is then replaced.

Another variation, Descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK), transplants just the endothelium and Descemet membrane, no supporting stroma. The donor tissue is very thin and fragile, so it is harder to work with, but healing from this procedure is usually quicker.

Result

Complications in these surgery are very few, but being a surgery it has its own risks. Surgery is performed under a microscope and the procedure will be completed in 30 minutes. Post-surgery an eye patch is provided to limit the light entering during the initial stage.

ICL Surgery – We care your Eyes

Vision one of the most precious of our possessions. To see is to feel and a disruption to it can often be difficult on oneself. Gone are the days when we remedied vision problems with spectacles or contact lenses. Technology has grown to incorporate better techniques for improving vision with both temporary and permanent procedures.

ICL surgery is an advanced surgical procedure used in place for LASIK surgery wherein artificial lens are implanted in the eyes to work along with the natural lens to provide a stable vision and an improved vision progress.

http://eye-care-hospital.com/icl-surgery.html

ICL Surgery Procedure

The procedure of ICL surgery can be performed as an outpatient procedure and is comparatively faster and painless than other associated procedures. It does not make use of Laser technology as in LASIK and can be reversed if needed.
The procedure is done after administering mild sedatives or topical anesthetics to numb the eye area. The lens is implanted in the eyes with a procedure similar to intraocular lens implant surgery lest the cataract removal. The procedure varies depending on the lens used.
ICL surgery makes use of two types of lenses namely Visian ICL, a foldable lens, and Verisyse lens. In case of Visian lens, they are placed between the iris and natural lens with the help of a small incision, where it unfolds into place between the two. Verisyse lens is placed in front of iris through incisions and then closed with dissolvable sutures.

Benefits of ICL Surgery
ICL surgery is preferred among many as they eliminate the hassles of managing removable lenses through a short and quick procedure. It can be completed in about 30 minutes and does not require hospitalization. They are relatively painless and improvements in vision can be experienced from the first day of the procedure onwards. The recovery period of ICL surgery is very short.
With credible and comprehensive treatment facility in ophthalmology, Neera Eye Centre is one of the  best eye care in Delhi  and best of its kind for treatment in line with the latest technology  in India

Freedom from Glasses and Contact Lenses Always.....

The term 'LASIK' stands for Laser Assisted in Situ keratomileusis. This Refractive surgery is used to correct common vision problems such as, myopia, Hyperopia and astigmatism. The main advantage of this surgery is that it is a permanent alternative to eyeglasses or contact lenses. You can achieve this advantage from 'Neera Eye Centre' clinic, the leading eye centre in India that provides the best Lasik surgery in Delhi.

http://eye-care-hospital.com/c-lasik.html

The procedure

The Lasik surgery procedure includes the following steps:
  • Step 1: Preparation for the procedure
The surgeon applies eye drops to numb the eyes. Then the surgeon will prop the eyelids open using an instrument called lid speculum.
  • Step 2: Cornea accessing
To stabilize the eye a device is used, then the surgeon creates a thin flap in the cornea which can be folded away.
  • Step 3: Cornea Reshaping
Pulses of light are directed at the eye to reshape the cornea using a computer controlled excimer laser.
  • Step 4: Corneal flap repositioning
In this last step of the surgery the repositioning of the corneal flap is done by the surgeon. Naturally it will stay in place and begin to heal.

After Lasik Surgery

The patient may sometimes feel some itching sensation, blurry vision, haziness or temporary burning immediately after the surgery. However, the clarity may improve by the very next morning. For most of the people vision improves immediately.

The advantages of Lasik Surgery

Lasik Surgery has many benefits, the following are some:
  • Vision can be corrected immediately or by the next day of the surgery.
  • The Lasik surgery is associated with a very little pain caused by the eye drops used for numbing the eyes.
  • No stitches or bandages are needed after the surgery.
  • The patients will no longer have to depend on eyeglasses as they will have their desired vision after the surgery.

All About Cataract

Cataract is the clouding of ones eye's natural lens, which lies behind the iris and the pupil. Cataracts are the most common cause of vision loss in people over the age of 40 and are the most common cause of blindness in the world. In fact, there are more cases of cataracts worldwide than there are of glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy combined.
What are the different types of cataract?
The different types of cataract include:
  • Sub capsular cataract: It occurs at the back of the lens. Diabetic people or those who are taking high dosage of steroid medications have a greater risk of developing a sub capsular cataract.
  • Nuclear cataract: It is formed deep in the nucleus of the lens. Nuclear cataracts are usually associated with aging.
  • Cortical cataract: It is characterized by the white, crescent shaped opacities that begin from the periphery of the lens and work their way to the center in a spoke-like fashion. This type of cataract occurs mainly in the cortex of the lens, which is that part of the lens which surrounds the central nucleus.
What are the signs and symptoms of cataract?
A cataract starts out small and at first and has little effect on the vision. The vision is blurred a little, similar to looking through a cloudy piece of glass. A cataract may make light from the sun or a lamp too bright or glaring. It may also come to notice that the oncoming headlights during the night causes more glare than before. Colors may not appear as bright as they once did.

http://eye-care-hospital.com/cataract-surgery.html

What causes cataract?

The lens inside the eye works much like a camera lens, focusing light onto the retina for clear vision. It will also adjust the eye's focus, which lets us see things clearly both up close and far away.
The lens is mainly made of water and protein. The protein is arranged in a precise way that keeps the lens clear and let’s light passes through it. But as we age, some of the protein may combine together and start to cloud a small area of the lens. A cataract may grow larger and cloud more on the lens over time, making it harder to see.
How is cataract treated?
Cataract surgery is very successful in restoring vision. During surgery, the surgeon will remove the clouded lens and in most cases replace it with a clear, plastic IOL. New and advanced IOLs are being developed with time to make the surgery less complicated for surgeons and the lenses more helpful to patients.

Neera Eye Centre, Delhi, been established with the intention to provide quality eye care at an affordable price. Their main focus is the treatment and care of patients from all levels.

Open Your Eyes To Clear Vision

The lens of the eye is mainly composed of water and proteins. As we get older these proteins may begin to come together and cloud the lens. This clouding is called the cataract. Cataract surgery is the removal of the affected cataract from the eye and insertion of an artificial lens.
http://eye-care-hospital.com/cataract-surgery.html

Before surgery you will be given eye drops to dialate your pupil. Area around eye will be washed and cleansed. Local anasthetic will be injected around your eye. You may also be offered a sedative. Most cataract surgeries last for more than one hour.

Types of cataract surgeries:
There are two types of cataract surgeries. The first procedure is phacoemulsification. In this procedure, the surgeon looks through an operating microscope and makes 3 small incisions less than one inch long in or near the cornea. An opening is made through the capsule of the lens and an ulstrasound probe is used to break the cloudy lens into tiny fragments. These fragments are vaccumed out through the incisions. Then an artificial intraocular lens is inserted. Intraocular lens is made of plastic, silicone or acrylic compounds. Stiching are generally not necessary in this procedure.

Another type of cataract surgery is called the Micro Phaco Cataract Surgery. It is nicknamed as pinhole surgery, as the incision size was very small. Faster healing and quicker rehabilitation is the main advantage of Micro Phaco Cataract Surgery. This surgery is ideally suited for people who want to start working soon after surgery. As this procedure is safer than conventional Cataract Surgery, patients with higher risk profile like diabetics and nephrology ideally opt for this procedure and is also the best option for complicated eye surgeries.

Experience the Joy of Clear Vision

Corneal Transplantation in simpler terms is an operation where the cornea of a patient is removed and replaced by a cornea from the donor. This is called as corneal grafting or keratoplasty. Cornea transplantation is usually done to improve the eyesight, replace the damaged cornea or to gain eyesight.

http://eye-care-hospital.com/corneal-transplant.html

By using Contact lenses we might be able to delay or eliminate the need for transplantation and also there are many other semi-surgical procedures that can be done if the damage can be recognized before getting worse. These all can be only considered by the doctor, but the ultimate solution to cornea disorder is the corneal transplantation.
This surgery does not take too long. In the case of partial corneal transplantation, it only takes 20 to 30 minutes and for the conventional corneal transplantation surgery might last in between 40 to 50 minutes.

What is the success rate of corneal transplantation?
The overall success rate of a corneal transplant is about 85%. So that means 15% chances are there to fail or to cause risks that can be caused due to the rejection of new cornea by our body or even can be caused due to infection.
Normally corneal transplantation is a safe procedure, but in some cases the possible risks that can affect are bleeding, infection on cornea, and swelling, increased pressure in the eyeball that can cause glaucoma. Sometimes the stitches used to secure the donor cornea might become a risk factor.

Neera Eye Center is one of the leading eye centers in the country, offering state-of-the-art modern diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services in ophthalmology. We provide better vision by interfacing cutting edge technology with a human touch.
